There is a Velayudha Swamy temple on Erode Tindal Hill. The work of constructing a Rajagopuram in Thindal Murugan temple, Erode, is currently underway which is under the control of the HR and CE Department. Following this, it has been decided to erect a 186-foot-high Murugan statue, which could be highest in Asia, in front of the temple and work has begun for it.
HR and CE Minister Sekarbabu and Housing and Urban Development Minister Muthusamy inspected the works on Sunday.
Later, Minister Sekarbabu told reporters: After assuming the Dravidian model government 3,500 temple renovations will be completed by the end of this year and the consecration ceremony will be held. So far, Rs 1,120 crore has been provided as subsidy from the government for temples. The government has provided Rs 58 crore for the second phase of the Palani renovation and land acquisition work is underway on an area of 54 acres. After 14 years, the renovation of the Thiruchendur temple has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs 414 crore under the mega project. The remaining work will be made in September-November. Since the number of devotees visiting from Andhra Pradesh to the Thiruthani temple is high, Rs 54 crore has been allocated to create an alternative route to the temple. There are 100 steps to the Swamimalai temple. Considering the difficulty of the devotees climbing the steps, steps will be taken to install an electric lift, and since there are many steps at the Marudhamalai temple, lift will also be installed, he added. MP K.E. Prakash, MLA Chandrakumar and many others participated.
