Salem District collector Dr. R. Brindadevi conducted an inspection of various onging development projects worth Rs. 1.52 crore in Valapadi Panchayat Union on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
The inspection included projects under the All Gram Anna Revival Scheme, Comprehensive School Infrastructure Development Scheme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, and the 15th Finance Commission.
Dr. Brindadevi emphasized the importance of these projects for the basic needs of the public and assured timely and quality implementation. Key projects inspected included the construction of two new classrooms at Muthampatti Panchayat Union Middle School costing Rs. 32.80 lakh and a threshing floor under the All Gram Anna Revival Project costing Rs. 8.80 lakh.
Additionally, seepage water ponds near Shankar Garden and access road and drinking water facilities at Muthambatti Samattuwa Idukhat were reviewed. These projects are funded under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and the All Gram Anna Revival Scheme, costing Rs. 9.99 lakh and Rs. 6.63 lakh respectively.
Dr. Brindadevi also inspected the construction of new classrooms at Tukiyambalayam Panchayat Union Primary School and an overhead water tank, costing Rs. 32.80 lakh and Rs. 12.80 lakh respectively, under the 15th Finance Committee scheme.
Further, projects in Vepilaipatti panchayat, including the construction of a perimeter wall for the Government High School at Rs. 31.43 lakh and a seepage pond near Ponnusamy garden at Rs. 8.90 lakh, were reviewed. The ongoing construction of a small health complex under the Clean Bharat Mission, estimated at Rs. 8.90 lakh, was also inspected.
Officials including Mr. Shekhar, Executive Engineer of the District Rural Development Agency, Mr. Ravichandran, Assistant Executive Engineer, Mr. Thiruvarangan, District Development Officer, and Mr. Elangovan accompanied Dr. Brindadevi during the inspection
