‘Run for wheels’ Mini marathon to be held in CBE

Ganga Hospital in association with Sittruli foundation and Wavicle Data solutions would be organizing the fourth edition of ‘Run for wheels’ mini marathon at Ganga spine injury rehabilitation centre at Kavundampalayam in the city at 5 am on Sunday.

The event is aimed at bridging the connection between able-bodied athletes and para-athletes. District collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, city police commissioner V Balakrishnan, corporation commissioner M Pratap and SP V Badrinarayanan would attend the event as chief guests. Mathesh Jayabal, managing director of Wavicle Data Solutions, Abhilash Krishnan, managing director of Mirable private limited, Ajit Jose, general manager of IBIS Coimbatore City Centre, Kirubakararaja, general secretary of Tamil Nadu paralympic sports association and Sharmila Ram Anandh, president of Coimbatore para sports association would attend the event as guest of honours.

More than 1000 participants across all age groups are expected to participate in the event under three different categories – 10 km, 5 km and 3 km. Over 100 differently-abled people from various parts of the state would participate in a special run for 3 kms along with the chief guests.

Post event, chief guests would honour the winners of national paralympic athletic meet that took place in Pune this year, and distribute honorarium worth Rs 10,000 to medal winners.
