Salem Dt sees development works worth Rs.201.37 Crores in three years: Collector

Over the past three years, Salem District has witnessed the completion of development projects worth Rs. 201.37 crores, according to District Collector Dr. R. Brindha Devi, who disclosed this during a site inspection of various ongoing development initiatives in Salem and Omalur Panchayat Union areas on Tuesday.
Emphasizing that the Tamil Nadu government prioritizes providing essential facilities to the public through various development schemes the collector said, continuous ensure timely and quality execution of these projects.


According to Dr. Brindha Devi, a total of 6,299 development projects have been initiated in Salem and Omalur Panchayat Unions through several schemes, including the Chief Minister's Rural Road Development Program, the Anna Marumalarchi Scheme, the Panchayat General Development Fund, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), the Swachh Bharat Mission, the 15th Finance Commission Fund, and the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme. Out of these, 5,089 projec
ts have been completed, with 1,210 projects still in progress.


In the Salem Panchayat Union, the Collector inspected projects including the Rs 60 lakh Primary Health Center in Inamvedukathampatti, the Rs 104.60 lakh Self-Help Group buildings under MGNREGS in Thalavaipatti and Sarkarkollapatti, and the Rs 16.75 lakh overhead water tanks with a 30,000-liter capacity being constructed in the Erangadu area of Majrakollapatti. Additionally, ongoing projects worth Rs 2 crores in various Panchayat areas, including the construction of public health complexes, waste management units, and housing under the Kalaignar Dream Homes Scheme, were reviewed.


In Omalur Panchayat Union, Dr. Brindha Devi inspected projects worth Rs 2.12 crores. These included the construction of a new pond in Sellapillai Kuttai Panchayat at Rs 9.87 lakhs, a Rs 56.30 lakh tar road under the NABARD scheme in Muthunayanpatti, and a Rs 22 lakh library building. The Collector also visited the Rs 30.10 lakh Panchayat office building under construction in Kottai Mariamman Temple Panchayat and the Rs16.55 lakh Anganwadi center being built in Melkamandampatti.

The Collector urged the concerned officials to ensure that all these projects are completed on time and meet quality standards to benefit the public.
