On the occasion of Thirukarthigai Deepam and Pournami, Tiruvannamalai District Collector D Bhaskara Pandian organised a special darshan at the Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar Temple for sanitation workers involved in maintaining cleanliness around the Girivalam path and temple premises. The workers were also provided free meals (Annadhanam) as a token of appreciation for their dedicated service.
Devotees from across states and districts visited the Girivalam path at the temple to mark the Thirukarthigai Deepam and Pournami celebrations.
The district administration, in coordination with various government departments, made special arrangements to ensure basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, and medical camps for the devotees.
Sanitation workers worked tirelessly in shifts to clean the Girivalam path and surrounding areas, ensuring a pleasant experience for all visitors.
Expressing his gratitude, District Collector D Bhaskara Pandian said, “A large number of devotees visited Tiruvannamalai during Deepam and Pournami. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the sanitation workers who worked tirelessly to keep the Girivalam path clean, treating it as a public service. You have set an exemplary standard of cleanliness in our district.”
During the festivities, 4,000 sanitation workers from 21 municipalities, Tiruvannamalai and Salem Municipal Corporations, and employees from Rural Development and Panchayat Departments carried out cleaning operations in three shifts.
Additionally, medical camps were organised for the workers to ensure their well-being, and they were encouraged to avail these facilities.
A special Annadhanam was arranged for 400 sanitation workers at the temple, where the District Collector joined them for a meal. Key officials, including District Revenue Officer I. Irampradeepan, District Rural Development Agency Project Director Mani, Trustee Committee Chairman Jeevanandam, Tiruvannamalai Corporation Commissioner Gandhiraj, and Assistant Director of Village Administration Syed Ahmed Payas, also participated in the event alongside the workers.
