SC, ST Commission inquiry

Tamil Nadu State SC, ST Commission on Saturday conducted an inquiry into 2 Dalit youths who were attacked by the public in Vengamedu area near Gobi and are undergoing treatment at the Gobi GH. On Nov 21, two youths were caught by the villagers for stealing chickens in Vengamedu and handed them over to the police station. A case was registered against them for involvement in theft. A case has been registered under the Prevention of SC, ST Atrocities Act against 20 people for defaming and attacking the youths by using caste name. The 2 youths who were attacked are undergoing treatment at the Gobi GH. Tamil Nadu State SC, ST Commission Chairman and former Madras High Court judge B.Sivakumar, Vice-Chairperson M.Punita Pandian, members of the commission P.Ilanjezhiyan and J.Rekha Priyadarshini met those youths in person and inquired them. Erode District Collector Rajagopal Sunkara and Superintendent of Police Javakar were present.
