School cleaning work commenced

The education department, under the 'Our School Shines School scheme”, started  special cleanliness drive in 414 primary, middle, high and secondary schools on Jan 8. It will continue till Jan  10 in the Nilgiris district.  The aim of the program is to raise awareness about cleanliness of the school premises, environmental protection of the school, knowledge of waste management methods and the importance of recycling methods, motivational activities to reduce the use of plastic and use environment friendly alternatives, setting up a school vegetable garden. A total of 414 primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools in the Nilgiris district will be cleaned.
