School Management Committee told to monitor school improvement programs

District Collector Rajagopal Sunkara said that the school management committee should help implement government schemes for the development of schools and students.

   On behalf of the school education department, a district-level conference for  committee leaders working in government schools was held at Nandha Engineering College on Wednesday.

 In this for 32 School Management Committees which performed well in Erode district were given certificates of appreciation.

District Collector Rajagopal Sunkara said: The Committees were established as per the Right to Free Compulsory Education Act 2009 for the betterment of the school and to manage the school activities. Parents or guardians of the children studying in the school, headmistress, teachers, local body representatives, educators and self help group members will be members of the management committee. 

This group was revised every 2 years. This 20-member committee should know the needs of the school and plan and implement them with the participation of the community to ensure quality education to the children. 

 The Committees have been reconstituted in 1,288 government schools in Erode district are meeting on the first Friday of every month and identifies drop out children and ask them to attend school regularly.

The committee should fully involve in various activities such as infrastructure development in schools, teachers, students' welfare, monitor the breakfast program and the implementation of various schemes of the government in the schools.

  District CEO T. Sampathu, District Social Welfare Officer Shanmugavadivu, District Food Safety Officer J. Thangavignesh, Sri Nandha Education Trust Chairman V. Shanmugan and others participated in the event.
