The school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on Saturday said that classes would be conducted on Saturdays in the current academic year as the schools would be reopened late after the summer vacation.
Speaking to reporters, the minister said, “An inquiry would be launched to inquire why no representation was made at the national sports competition from the state.
We have not received proper notification regarding the competitions and also, students from nine states have not participated in the competition.
We have issued a notice seeking an explanation to the concerned official.”
“Since the schools would be reopened late in the current academic year, there would be a shortage of four hours for every subject. To compensate for this, the department has decided to conduct classes on Saturdays,” he added.
