Seminar on coconut and tuber crops based agrifood systems

ICAR-CTCRI organized a seminar on coconut and tuber crops based agrifood systems for resilience and sustainable income on August 29 at Perumanallur, Tiruppur, under Coconut Development Board (CDB) funded project. It was supported by ICAR-CPCRI, Kasaragod, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tiruppur; Department of Agriculture, Department of Horticulture, Global Coconut Farmers Producer Company and M/s Linga Chemicals.
Dr. G. Byju, Director, ICAR-CTCRI was the chief guest and delivered inaugural address. He emphasized the importance of adopting cropping and farming systems in coconut gardens of Tiruppur district for enhancing productivity, nutritional security, profitability and sustainability of the systems. 
Dr. H. Hameed Khan, Former Project Coordinator, AICRP on Palms and Shri. E. Aravazhi, Director, CDB, Regional Office, Chennai were the guests of honour and delivered special addresses. Smt. V. Krishnaveni, Joint Director of Agriculture, Tirupur; Smt. Sheela Poosa Lakshmi, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Tirupur; Dr. P. Subramanian, Head, CPCRI, Kasaragod; Shri. K. Bala Subramanian, Managing Director, Global Coconut Farmers Producer Company and Shri. Mohamed Ibrahim, Manager, Linga Chemicals, Madurai, offered felicitations. Dr. D. Jaganathan, Senior Scientist & Organizing Secretary, ICAR-CTCRI welcomed the guests. Shri. G. Ragothuman, Assistant Director, CDB, Udumalpet proposed the vote of thanks.
