Mr.Ravi Sam, Chairman, SIMA has thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Hon’ble Minister for Handlooms and Textiles for the initiatives towards strategic shift in Tamilnadu textile sector and announcing 22 policy measures for the handloom and textile sectors on April 11. He has appreciated the announcement of creating a textile city closer to Chennai and the declaration for Tamilnadu Pavilion in all the major international exhibitions that would boost the Tamilnadu brand and create enormous market opportunities for strengthening domestic and international markets for the whole value chain in the State. He has appreciated the various fund allocation made for convening the international technical textile conference, R & D facilities, Workshops, skill development, etc. for technical textiles.
SIMA Chairman has also welcomed the various unique policies announced for the handlooms sector including training and development of young handloom entrepreneurs, Dr.Kalaignar Karunanidhi Centenary Handloom Park at Arani enhancing the benefits for the handloom weavers, encouraging handloom sector to switch over to package dyeing with zero liquid discharge facilities, modernizing handlooms, market survey, Tamilnadu handloom brand, etc.
Mr.Ravi Sam has said that all these policy initiatives would strengthen the textiles industry in the State including handlooms and Co-optex and help achieve the target of one trillion US dollar economy by 2030 envisaged by the CM.
