Singapore passengers checked for fever symptoms at Coimbatore airport

Coimbatore Airport, which operates flights to Sharjah and five days a week to Singapore, has initiated fever screening for passengers arriving from these destinations. This precautionary measure comes in response to reports of a new type of coronavirus spreading in Singapore.

An automatic fever detection machine is already in place at the airport, actively screening passengers from Sharjah and Singapore. Despite the lack of specific guidelines issued for this new coronavirus strain, fever detection is being conducted as a precaution, particularly among passengers from Tamil Nadu.

Coimbatore Airport Director Senthil Valavan emphasised the importance of these screenings. He also noted that, unlike the previous coronavirus outbreak when public immunity was low, the current situation is less alarming due to the widespread administration of two vaccine doses.

Deputy Director of Health Services Aruna mentioned that if the government issues new guidelines regarding the coronavirus measures in Tamil Nadu, they will be promptly implemented.
