Special prayers held as a part of Bakrid celebration

A special prayer was held in Karumbukkadai in the city, as a part of Bakrid celebration. The festival is celebrated in a grand manner across the country on Saturday.
A special prayer began at 7:30 am at the ground of Karumbukkadai Islamic matriculation school. Thousands of people attended the prayer. 
They embraced each other and exchanged greetings. It was led by Maulvi Ismail Imthathi, Chief Imam of Masjid Ihsan Mosque, who delivered the sermon.
Livestock were sacrificed, and the meat is divided into three portions as part of the Qurbani ritual. One portion for friends and relatives, another for the poor and needy, and the third portion for themselves
Muslims celebrate Bakrid every year to honor the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim, the messenger of God, who was willing to sacrifice his son for the sake of God.
