SREC inaugurates Centre of Excellence on AR and VR

Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College's Department of Computer Science and Engineering unveiled its Centre of Excellence on Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) on March 4. The inauguration, featuring chief guest Rajesh Kosalram from Capgemini Engineering and guest of honour Siddarth Nair of Zeuron.ai, marked a significant milestone in immersive technology.

Presided over by Dr. N.R. Alamelu, the college's Principal, and Dr. A. Grace Selvarani, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, saw the formal opening of the centre. Kosalram emphasised the importance of academia-industry collaboration in technological innovation, underscoring SREC's enduring partnership with Capgemini.

The collaboration with Zeuron.ai focuses on intelligent services, offering students experiential learning in AR and VR specialisation courses. Students showcased real-time AR and VR projects using Oculus Quest 2 headsets during the inauguration, earning praise from Kosalram, who encouraged further achievements. The establishment of the Centre of Excellence underscores SREC's commitment to encouraging innovation and preparing students for the technological frontier, with collaboration set to propel the next generation into a future where physical and virtual worlds converge seamlessly.
