Sri Ramakrishna College organises international conference on translating literature

The Department of English at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science For Women, in collaboration with the Tamil department, recently organised a one day international conference titled ‘Translating Literature across Languages: Challenges & Opportunities’ on February 6.  
The event was presided over by Dr. K. Chitra, Principal of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women. 
Distinguished scholars served as chairpersons for the conference, including Dr. Lok Raj Sharma, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, Makawalpur Multiple Campus, Nepal, Dr. P. Ananda Kumar, Professor at The Gandhigram Rural Institute, Dindigul, and Dr. P Balamurugan, Associate Professor and Head at NMSSVN College, Madurai. 
During the valediction ceremony, Dr. Peeyush Maniyambath, Consultant Anesthetist and renowned writer, delivered the keynote address, shedding light on the nuances of translating across languages. 
Dr. Maniyambath highlighted the cultural barriers and regional dialects that pose challenges to translation, while also suggesting methods to overcome these obstacles.
The conference provided a platform for scholars and academicians to present their research and insights. 
Around 50 articles were presented. Participants were awarded certificates and awards in recognition of their contributions to the
field.
