Stalin Gunasekaran assumes as NCBH president

Erode July 14: Makkal Sinthanai Peravai state president and lawyer Stalin Gunasekaran of Erode assumed as state president of the leading book publisher of the state-New Century Book House (NCBH) which was led by senior leftist leader R Nallakannu so far.  It was led by Radhakrishnan as MD for many years and now Santhanam was elected to that post. 

The NCBH, founded by veteran leftists Srinivasa Rao, VP Sinthan, Mohan Kumaramangalam etc in 1951, has 9 board of directors, Paavai, Arivu, Thamarai, Nestle publishers, own printing units, 18 branches, 2 mobile book sales units, nearly Rs 15 cr turnover per annum, over 150 workers. It published books on 7000 titles so far (nearly 300 per year). Before the disintegration of the USSR, it published and released many books of great leaders and writers of that nation in Tamil at low cost, besides many Tamil literatures and children's books. After that it released all kind of books including science, biographies, award winning books, Sangam literatures etc. Its many books were in many university syllabus. Now, it published school books also.

Stalin Gunasekaran was the pioneer in arranging state level book fair in Erode on the model of one in Chennai with inviting former president Abdul Kalam, CM, Ilayaraja, many state, central ministers, academicians, writers, poets and Tamil scholars etc. for the past 18 years. He said the NCBH's was holding book expos in all districts every year for the past many years to promote reading habit of people. He planned to further promote it by holding expos in schools, colleges, bring out books penned by students and good writers who have no facility to publish it and release science books at low cost for the benefit of students.
