Sahitya Academy in association with Pollachi N.G.M. College, organised 'A two-day research seminar on August 22 and 23 on the title of '75th Anniversary of Indian Independence - Special Focus on Tamil Literature'
In the opening ceremony of the seminar, the historical researcher and chairman of the Makkal Sindhanai Perava president T Stalin Gunasekaran, who brought out the role of Tamils in India's freedom struggle 20 years back through his two-part and 1200-page book titled 'Viduthalai Velviil Tamizhagam', was given 'Sudandhira Sudar' Award jointly by Sahitya Academy- NGM College. Secretary of the Academy K.Srinivasa Rao presented the Award.
Sahitya Academy's Tamil Advisory Committee Coordinator Prof. Sirpi Balasubramaniam presided over the event and introduced the awardee to the panel. In this event, the President of NGM College P.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar delivered the keynote speech.
College Principal R. Muthukumaran delivered the welcome address. Chennai Sahitya Academy Officer-in-Charge T.S.Chandrasekhara Raju proposed the vote of thanks.
In this event, the selection committee explained about the preparation of the third part of the book 'Viduthalai Velviil Thamizhagam' and the translation of the three parts in Hindi and English languages.
The award ceremony was organized as a part of the inaugural ceremony of the seminar.
