Stanes Schools, Coimbatore, with a proud legacy spanning 163 years, has announced yet another milestone with the launch of the Cambridge English Authorised Exam Centre, ‘Stanes Schools – Centre of English (IA602)’, approved by Cambridge Assessment English, a Department of the University of Cambridge, UK, which took place today.
Mr. T.K. Arunachalam, Cambridge University Press and Assessment Representative was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Other dignitaries present on the occasion included, Mr. Philip R.J Fowler, Correspondent, Stanes Schools, Mr. Kevin Coyne, Key Account Manager, South Asia, Cambridge University Press and Assessment, Dr. James J. Gnanadoss , Hon. Treasurer, Mr. Glenn Croning, Hon Secretary and Dr. Sucheeta Ramachandran, Board Member, Mrs. Mercy Oommen, Chairperson and Mrs. S. Selene Vinodhini, Principal Stanes AIHSS.
In his address, Mr. Arunachalam emphasized that the newly established centre would fulfil parents' aspirations for enhancing their children's English communication skills. He commended the management for their visionary initiative in making the centre accessible to every student in the school.
Mr. Arunachalam also highlighted the key distinction between knowledge and skill, stressing the importance of continuous practice in mastering English communication. He further noted that the centre would provide students with ample opportunities to develop and refine the four essential language skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking—thereby strengthening their overall proficiency in English.
As part of this partnership, he announced that faculty members would receive specialized training from Cambridge professionals, ensuring high-quality instruction. Additionally, a team of examiners would be appointed within the school to uphold rigorous assessment standards.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Philip Fowler expressed his delight at the inauguration of the Stanes Schools – Centre of English, calling it a momentous milestone. He emphasized that the centre would play a pivotal role in elevating the standard of English among the students.
He further highlighted that the centre provides a remarkable learning opportunity for students, equipping them with essential language skills. Expressing optimism for the future, he conveyed his hope for a lasting partnership with Cambridge in the years ahead.
Mr. Philip Fowler also affirmed that the progression of the Early Years Programme (EYP) being followed at Stanes Nursery School will continue with the Primary Year Programme (PYP), Grades 1 to 4 at the Stanes International School for the academic year 2025 – 2026.
The formal launch of the Cambridge English Authorised Exam Centre took place with the Mr. Arunachalam , together with Mr. Kevin Coyne, presenting a plaque to mark the launch to Mrs. Mercy Oommen, Mr. Philip Fowler, Correspondent, Dr. James J. Gnanadoss , Mr. Glenn Croning, and Dr. Sucheeta Ramachandran.
A video presentation on Cambridge English Qualifications was another highlight on the
occasion.
Earlier Mrs. Priya Sheen, Vice Principal, Junior School, Stanes AIHSS, welcomed the gathering.
