Steps to be taken to check drinking water shortage in Erode: Minister Muthusamy

Water in Bhavanisagar dam in Erode district is decreasing rapidly. However, steps would be taken to prevent drinking water shortage in Erode district, said Housing Minister S Muthusamy. 

He inaugurated buttermilk distribution pandal on behalf of DMK at Erode Gandhiji Road. Then he told the reporter: Not only in Bhavanisagar dam but also dams in the Nilgiris district has very little water. It is our desire to give water to the wet crops in Bhavani irrigation area for fifth time. But there is no water reserve in the dams. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has allocated Rs 150 crore to 22 districts to alleviate the shortage of drinking water. The Chief Minister will take appropriate measures to ensure that there is no drinking water problem in Erode district. Erode district is very hot this year. Trees have been cut at many places for road widening work. Steps will be taken to plant saplings in those places. The DMK has complained to the Election Commission that the CCTV cameras in the counting center in the Nilgiris district were under repair for 26 minutes, he added. Erode Maanagar District Secretary Subramaniam, zone secretary Agni Chanduru, third zone president Sasikumar and many others participated in the event.
