IKA/ International Culinary Olympics 2024, the most prestigious culinary event took place from February 2nd to February 7th.
In this event students from Chennai and Bengaluru campus of Chennais Amirta International Institute of hotel management coached by Chef Karthik and Chef Sendhil respectively took part representing the South India Chef Association ( SICA) and competed in the Junior category.
Among the participants, Chef Shreya Aneesh won 1 gold and 2 silver medals, while Chef Jagan Saravana and Chef Punith Jokappa won 1 gold and 1 silver medal each. Chef Ankith Kantharaju Shetyy won 2 silver medals, and Chef Akash George Mulamkuzhiyil won a bronze medal . While Shreya Aneesh won both in the display and the Live carving category the rest won in the Live carving of fruits and vegetables. The Students of Chennais Amirta competed with experienced chefs across the world and have won these medals.
South India Chef Association (SICA) congratulated and honoured the winners during the press meet organised at the Hotel Residency Tower, Thiayagaraya nagar. The president of SICA Chef Damu and General seceratary Chef Seetharam Prasad while addressing the press stated this as the first time in the history of SICA to achieve 10 medals at Olympics and this victory is significant as this is India’s first Gold medal in the past 124 years and this will pave way for future success.
