Subbulakshmi denies joining AIADMK

Subbulakshmi denies joining AIADMK

Former union and state minister in both DMK and AIADMK rules, DMK deputy general secretary and senior leader of DMK Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan, 70, of Erode who quit DMK a few days back on the ground of retiring from politics, denied reports in social media that she was joining AIADMK.

It may be recalled that she started her political career as AIADMK MLA of Modakurichi and Khadi minister in the MGR's first cabinet. Then, AIADMK's rout in the LS poll in 1980, she alongwith the then finance minister in MGR cabinet Nanjil Manoharan joined DMK. She faced defeat in the assembly poll in Modakurichi segment in 2011 at a margin of 280 votes against her rival Dr CK Saraswathi. Her supporters allleged that the cold war between her and party south district secretary S Muthusamy and his supporters non cooperation to her in the election led to her defeat.

She lodged a complaint to the party high command in this regard. But no action was taken. So, she quit the party. Before that, her husband criticised DMK highcommand sharply on various issues in social medias creating much flutter in the DMK circles.
Denying reports in the social media, she said ''according to her stature, it is not good to join AIADMK or BJP'' and cited her letter to DMK high command that ''she intended to retire from politics.''

Meanwhile Muthusamy refused to talk on the subject with stating that he would give a detailed reply on her exit and charges of her supporters later. Anyhow, her exit from the party is a regrettable one, he added.
