Tea tourism festival on May 21

A consultation meeting regarding Tea Tourism Festival 2023 in view of summer festival in Nilgiri district was held under the chairmanship of Executive Director of Tea Board, Dr. M. Muthukumar in the presence of District Collector Mr. S.P. Amrit on April 27. 
In the meeting, the Executive Director said: The Nilgiris district is a tourist destination which attracts lakhs of tourists from all over the world every year. 
A tea seller and buyer conference is planned to be held on 21.05.2023 as part of International Tea Day to create awareness through various events. 
Also, to prevent adulteration of tea and to create awareness among tourists about the benefits of tea drinking, tea brewing competition will be held at Uthagai Botanical Garden, Thottapeta Tea Park, Coonoor Sims Park and other places in the District. Stalls will be set up to showcase the special varieties of tea produced by the farmers. 
On 22.05.2023, arrangements will be made to hold a tea fair at Coonoor Simspark and to create awareness among the tourists about tea production by visiting the tea factories. 
He sought full cooperation  to the festival. In this meeting, Special Area Development Program Director Dr. Monikarana, Coonoor RDO Mr. Duraisamy, Deputy Director of Horticulture Ms. Shipilamery, District Tourism Officer Mr. Umashankar, Tea Board Assistant Director Mr. R. Selvam , Development Officer, Coonoor Tea Board, Dr.R.Umamakeshwari, Horticulture Dept. Asstt.Director Mrs. Bipitha, Coonoor Tahsildar Mr. Sivakumar and many officials attended.
