VS Muthu Ramasamy, state general secretary of the Tamil Nadu Elementary School Teachers' Federation appealed to the CM to restore old pension scheme for teachers and government employees. The state executive and general council of the association was held in Erode on saturday. The meeting was chaired by Union State Vice President R Nadesan.
The resolutions passed at the meeting are: We thank CM for ordering to provide breakfast to the students studying in government schools. Bring in the old pension scheme as mentioned in the election manifesto. Secondary grade teachers who joined the service after 2009 should be paid the same pay as in Central Government.
Teachers should be given incentive for higher education qualification. Former Chief Minister Karunanidhi has started a separate directorate for primary education. It should be re-created. EMIS and non-teaching activities that affect the teaching work should be eliminated. The status of one teacher per class should be created and compulsory free education should be provided to all students.
We fully co-operate with the Government in its efforts to eliminate NEET entrance examinations. The state government should provide 3 per cent DA as given by the centre. 7.5 per cent quota for government school students should be extended to aided school students.
