The first wedding to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan

The first wedding to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan

For the first time in history, a wedding ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on February 12.
The bride, Deputy Commandant Poonam Gupta, has served in Naxal-affected areas. President Droupadi Murmu granted her permission to have a traditional wedding at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Poonam Gupta, who currently works as a personal security officer at Rashtrapati Bhavan, married Awanish Kumar, an Assistant Commandant in the CRPF, who is posted in Jammu and Kashmir.
President Murmu reportedly approved Poonam Gupta’s wedding after being impressed by her service in the Naxal-affected regions of Bihar. This reflects her commitment to honoring those who serve the country.
Over the years, Rashtrapati Bhavan has hosted many high-profile international dignitaries, but it has never been used as a wedding venue before. This makes the event truly historic.
Congratulations are pouring in for the newlyweds from all over the country.
Best wishes to the historic couple!
