“The win-win initiative by the Government”

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, on behalf of its Members specifically from agriculture sector, whole-heartedly welcomes the announcement of the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business of Government of Tamil Nadu, that an Auction Centre for Raw Coconuts is being commissioned at the venue of Coimbatore Market Committee in Ramanathapuram, with effect from Feb 24 2023.

The initiative is commendable going by the benefits those are sure to accrue. The timing is also very apt as the Coconut farmers have been facing a very low ebb in price realization as well as product movement for more than 2 years.  This Regulated Marketing Centre has accumulated experience in conducting weekly auction for turmeric which happens every Thursday. Now Friday is being offered for the major long term crop of Coimbatore and Tiruppur Coconuts.

Uzhave Thalai

Uzhave Thalai - the agriculture vertical of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, Coimbatore focuses on the welfare of farmers and also for bringing together all farmers and non-farmers to one single platform to share best practices and disseminate their learning to a wider section of people eager to take up farming practices.

The President, Office Bearers and the Convenor of Uzhave Thalai Shri C Dorairaj welcome this win-win initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu and wish to express their whole hearted support to this initiative which is sure to boost the economy of the Coconut farmers of the region. This initiative has a lot of advantages. We thank the Chief Minister for this innovative method benefiting the farmers of this region to a greater extent.
