District collector K Tharpagaraj on March 25 distributed welfare assistance worth Rs 62 lakh to 255 beneficiaries during the Manu Neethi Day camp that took place in a private hall in Kozhippuliyur panchayat in the district on March 25.
The camp featured a presentation on the Tamil Nadu government's schemes, aimed at educating the public about the benefits they can access. The collector said that the camp's primary goal is not only to collect petitions from the public and provide immediate solutions but also to raise awareness about government schemes and services. He emphasized that such camps are organized in every district based on the directives of the Chief Minister MK Stalin, and it is to focus on informing the public and ensuring that they benefit from available resources.
In his address, Tharpagaraj spoke on key initiatives, particularly the state government's efforts to improve the health and well-being of children and pregnant women through the public health department. He also highlighted the importance of girls' education, stressing that government schemes aim to provide girls with higher education opportunities. He called for public cooperation to prevent the early marriage of girls, as it hampers their health and educational prospects.
During the camp, welfare assistance worth over Rs 62 lakh was distributed to 255 beneficiaries. About 89 beneficiaries were given free housing certificates worth Rs 44.50 lakhs by the Revenue Department, 68 beneficiaries were given certificates for conversion of their certificates, 10 beneficiaries were given certificates, 19 beneficiaries were given new family cards worth Rs. 1 lakh, 38 beneficiaries were given welfare assistance worth Rs 6,82,500 under the Social Security Scheme, 10 beneficiaries were given welfare assistance worth Rs 20,000 by the Medical and Public Welfare Department, 10 beneficiaries were given agricultural inputs worth Rs 22,300 by the Agriculture Department, 3 beneficiaries were given agricultural inputs worth Rs 35,106 by the Horticulture and Hill Crops Department, and 8 women's self-help groups were given Rs 9,50,000 by the Women's Scheme. The District Collector distributed welfare assistance worth Rs 62,59,906 to a total of 255 beneficiaries in the form of loan assistance orders.
He also congratulated Selvi Sanmathi, class VIII student from Peranamallur panchayat union, who won a gold medal in the sports competition held in Coimbatore.
Additionally, he inspected ongoing rural development projects and instructed officials to expedite work on key infrastructure projects, such as road construction and water supply initiatives.
He also visited the Chettupattu taluk office, directing officials to resolve land title transfers and address public petitions promptly.
The event was attended by District Revenue Officer I Iramprathipan, Cheyyar Sub-Collector Pallavi Varma, Arani Revenue Divisional Officer Ramakrishnan, District Rural Development Agency Executive Engineer Ilango, Cheyyar Assistant Director (Village Administration) Velmurugan, District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Officer Siva, Tribal Welfare Project Officer Kalaiselvi, Chettupattu Taluk Officer, Block Development Officer and other government departmental officials.
