A review meeting aimed at advancing women’s empowerment in Tiruvannamalai district was held on March 27 at the District Rural Development Agency auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector K. Tharpagaraj. The meeting focused on announcing new initiatives for Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and the Vazhndhu Kaatuvom Project. Various government schemes, financial assistance programs, and business opportunities designed to enhance women's entrepreneurship, economic strength, and social progress were discussed in detail.

As part of the new support schemes for SHGs, steps will be taken to provide increased loan opportunities. Additionally, new training courses will be introduced to develop women's professional skills, and efforts will be made to help SHGs expand into e-commerce by creating a dedicated sales platform. Women will also receive personalized training to achieve entrepreneurship and economic independence. Under the Vazhndhu Kaatuvom initiative, large-scale credit assistance to women’s groups will be further increased. Microenterprise financial aid will be expanded, enabling more women to become entrepreneurs. Loans and entrepreneurship training will be provided to help women start small businesses together. During the event, District Collector K. Tharpagaraj visited an exhibition showcasing products made by women’s groups and praised their efforts.

He reviewed the sales of various products, including spices, honey, oil, tamarind, pine oil, and akkupai products. He assured that the government would provide full support to help market these products internationally. The meeting also covered details about Tamil Nadu’s new subsidy schemes, bank loans, and business development opportunities for women’s groups, which are expected to bring significant positive changes in the district. Women’s Project Director Saranya Devi, Vazhndhu Kaatuvom Project Executive Officer Tamil Maran, Assistant Project Officers Manikandan, Rajiv Gandhi, Bharathi Uma, Executive Officers Chellapandiyan and Jayakumar, regional operations managers, government department officials, and representatives of women’s groups participated in the meeting.
