Tiruvannamalai Collector inspects development projects with reporters

Tiruvannamalai District Collector K. Tharpagaraj, along with reporters, inspected various development projects being carried out under different schemes in the areas under the Tiruvannamalai Corporation on March 18.
Drinking water is currently being supplied from Sathanur Dam to the areas under the Corporation. Additionally, a total of Rs. 55.49 crores has been allocated under the Kalaignar Urban Development Project 2023-24. As per the plan, 23.40 kilometers of new drinking water pipelines are being constructed. During the inspection, it was noted that 17.50 kilometers of pipelines had already been buried, with the remaining work ongoing.
Under the Amrut 2.0 project, an underground sewerage project is being implemented in vacant areas at an estimated cost of Rs. 105.82 crores. The construction of 175 manholes and the laying of 750 meters of pipes have been completed. The quality of materials received for the remaining work was also inspected.
Further, the District Collector reviewed the construction progress of a new bus stand being developed under the Infrastructure and Facilities Fund (I&A) 2021-22. He also examined the establishment of an integrated vegetable and flower market at a vacant site in Gandhi Nagar, a central location in Tiruvannamalai city. This market, funded under the Kalaignar Urban Development Project 2022-23 at an estimated cost of Rs. 32.16 crores, consists of 249 shops, including 128 vegetable and fruit shops on the ground floor and 121 flower shops on the first floor.
During the visit, the District Collector urged Corporation officials to ensure that all development projects are completed with high quality and within the stipulated time frame. Corporation Commissioner Gandhiraj, Tiruvannamalai Taluk Officer, and other government officials accompanied him during the inspection.
