On the occasion of Teachers' Day, Tiruvannamalai District Collector D Bhaskara Pandian visited the Amaravathi Murugaiyan Government Girls Higher Secondary School on September 5, where he honoured teachers with a 100% pass rate in their respective subjects. As a special gesture, he presented his book ‘Anbulla Asiriyargalukku’ to the teachers.
In his address, the District Collector emphasised the pivotal role teachers play in shaping young minds and guiding students toward success. He remarked, "Teachers mould our intellect, refine our knowledge, and guide us on the right path. They are crucial for innovation and national progress." Quoting Cicero and Tibetan proverbs, he highlighted the irreplaceable value of education and the lifelong role of teachers in the learning process.
He stressed the importance of continuing education, urging students to make the most of government schemes and opportunities. Pandian also spoke about preventing social issues such as child marriages, urging students and the public to report them, and emphasising the need for dropout students to resume their education. "Education is not just about knowledge; it's about putting that knowledge into practice," he added, quoting Herbert Spencer.
The event saw the participation of District Education Officer Swami Muthazhagan, the school headmaster, teachers, students, and other government officials. The day concluded with a celebration of the dedication and service of educators.
