TMC seeks death penalty for sexual assault on girl children

The cadres of Trinamool Congress Party staged a demonstration at Erode on Saturday demanding death penalty for those who sexually assault girl children. 
In his speech, Jai Bhim Makkal Katchi  state president Arivazhagan said the sexual assault on women and girl children were on the rise in the country in recent past due to various socio economic problems.
Lot of cases were registered under the Pocso Act. The cases should be completed within the stipulated time frame and the guilty should be punished without delay. Then only, people would fear to do such offences. Similarly, counsellers should be appointed in all high and HSSs to counsel students who were in mental depression due to studies, family problems, love affair, failure or low mark in exams, etc, to check suicide incidents. 
The parents and teachers association meeting should be held in schools in the presence of education department officials and students at least once in 3 months to understand students problems and solve the issues including the problems related to studies to avoid mishaps as seen in a school in Kallakurichi district. 
Presiding, TMC  Erode District President EK Silambarasan said last year alone an highest 6449 Pocso cases were registered in MP, followed by 5742 in Delhi and 4852 in Chathishgar. TN was in 12th place in the nation in registering 1112 cases. Party functionaries Thamizharasu, Aburabikkhan, Sheikh Abdullah, Jayabalan, Rajkamal, Deepak, Umamaheswari, Kandasamy attended.
