The Tamil Nadu government commemorated the 143rd birth anniversary of Mahakavi Bharathiyar with floral tributes to his portrait. Chief Minister MK Stalin led the state in honoring the legendary poet, sharing a heartfelt post celebrating Bharathiyar's contributions to Tamil literature, the liberation of Tamil society, and India's independence. "Long live Bharathi, who championed Tamil, women's emancipation, and resistance to regressiveness!" Chief Minister Stalin expressed on his social media page. He referred to Bharathiyar as a genius in Tamil poetry and prose and acknowledged his pivotal role in inspiring social progress and national unity. Earlier in the day, Tamil Nadu Ministers M Subramanian and Shekharbabu, along with local body representatives and senior government officials, paid homage to Mahakavi Bharathiyar's portrait beneath his statue on Marina Beach Road in Chennai.
