TN moves SC challenging HC order allowing RSS rally

The Tamil Nadu government has appealed before the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s direction granting permission for RSS rallies in the state. The High Court on October 16 directed the police department to grant permission on a conditional basis to RSS to carry out rallies at 33 places in the state between October 22 and 29. 
The RSS has filed a contempt of court after the police department refused to grant the permission. The case is pending before the court. Now, the state government has appealed before the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s direction. 
They have sought direction to issue a stay order for the rally since it might disturb law and order conditions of the state. The petition is likely to be heard on November 3.
