TN tops in higher education in the nation, says minister

TN tops in the higher education in the nation, said Higher Education Minister Dr Govi Chezhiyan. He spoke in the Freshers Day function of the Surya Engineering College Erode on Monday. In his speech, he said that our grand parents didn't read. But, now, many of us are graduates.  Late CM Kalaignar announced marriage scheme for girls studying upto 8th std. Now, the CM offers education aid for higher education. So, the state is in top in higher education in the state. The main reason for education growth is Thanthai Periyar who asked all of us to study. TN has 165 arts and science colleges after independence. During the past 6 months alone 16 government colleges were opened. Now, TN has 201 colleges. Many CMs have caste names. But, such caste names were not existed in TN thanks to Periyar. Citing his appointment as Madras university senate member by Kalaignar, he said that education alone elevated him to the post and now Minister. So, poverty is not a hitch to get education. Now, Tamil Pudalvan, Pudumai Pen, Naan Mudalvan, etc would help students to study well. Now, we should compete with developed nations instead of UP or Bihar to further develop TN, he noted. MLAs VC Chandrakumar, AG Venkatachalam, College Chairman Andavar Ramasamy, secretary Kalaiselvan, treasurer Kesavan and Principal Monaharan were present.
