TNAU organizes beekeeping training for CISF officers

Tamil Nadu Agriculture University on May 29 organized a beekeeping training session for Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officers stationed at the airport. The training was organized by the university’s entomology department’s crop protection centre.
In this training, the role of bees in agriculture, forest ecology, medicine, and other sectors was explained. Basic explanations were given on identifying different species of bees, handling beehives, inspecting, combining and splitting hives, and the production of value-added bee products.
Dr MR Saminathan, professor of entomology department explained about the installation and management of new beehives. To dispel the fear of bee stings, practical guidance was given to officers on how to handle bee laws.
The training session was presided over by senior commandant Shashi Ranjan and deputy commandant Hakeem Asif Yousuf.
