Tourism, Culture and HR&CE principal secretary Chandramohan inspected the traffic congestion around the Big Temple, Thanjavur, while reviewing the development works in Thanjavur district.
Already, Azhagiya Thanjai project director auditor R. Ravichandran sent a memorandum to the government seeking ''shifting of vehicle parking spot, existed in front of the temple, to the already existed area on nearby public usage road.
The public can be allowed to move on the road behind it. If need be a space of the hospital premises can be used for public movement on the road without affecting traffic.'' So, he inspected the tourist vehicle parking place opposite to the temple and Raja Mirasdhar hospital, located behind the place, to find suitable land for public purpose.
Then, he observed that there is a need to bring some changes in the area to check traffic congestion. The Corporation Commissioner also took similar step. In this connection, a resolution was also passed in the civic body and started some work to reduce traffic congestion nearby the temple.
The secretary also inspected the area near Tanjore Museum to establish Chozha Museum, besides Tanjore Palace, and Darbar Hall Saraswathi Mahal Library.
He found that the pathway to the palace is also not in good condition. So, he felt that if a report is given in this regard, he would take action on the issue to ensure more growth in Tanjore. The secretary was accompanied by Prince Charming Babaji Rajah Bonsle, Collector Dinesh Oliver Ponraj, Additional Collector Sukapatra, and Azhagiya Thanjai project director R. Ravichandran.
