Tourists barred to visit Kodiveri dam

As 2000 cubic feet of excess water is coming out through the Kodiveri Dam next to Gobichettipalayam, tourists are prohibited to visit the Kodiveri Dam and operating Parisal (ferry) due to safety concerns.

Kodiveri Dam in Erode district is visited by many tourists from different districts every day. In this case, the excess water coming to the dam is being discharged through the Bhavani river due to the heavy rain in the catchment areas of the Bhavanisagar Dam on Saturday night. Due to this, 2000 cubic feet of excess water is flowing through the Kodiveri Dam. As a large amount of excess water is coming out through the Kodiveri Dam, for safety reasons, travel in Parisal was banned by the PWD officials. The highest rainfall was 61.20 mm in Gobi, 68.80 mm in Gunderipallam and 56 mm in Kodiveri on Saturday.
