Traders assn plea to CM

Traders assn plea to CM

Erode July 13: Gobi all traders association president GS Velumani appealed to the CM to take steps to remove the hardship of people in various parts of the district especially in Gobi and Perundurai, caused due to the action of TN Wakf Board claiming lands and assets in various Survey Nos as its own.

In this connection, the association vice president Selvam, functionaries and Gobi municipal chairman Nagarajan submitted a petition to the Minorities Welfare and Wakf Board Minister Gingee Masthan when he visited Erode Collectorate recently.

Velumani said the lands and assets were under the possession of many people for the past many decades and sold out to many over the years even before independence.

But suddenly the Wakf Board claimed the assets and lands as it was donated to it many years back.

But, in revenue records the so called assets were in the name of people and registrations were made in their names. Significantly, now, due to the Board's order not only the particular assets but also all assets in the entire Survey No were barred for sales or purchase in the registration department. For example such problem arose in 24.44 acre land in the Bazaar Street, Gobi, affecting many people in selling or buying shops there. The problem was existed for the past one year affecting thousands of people to sell or buy the assets for their family needs. So, the CM should intervene and settle the issue immediately by relieving such assets from the ban of registration department, he pleaded.
