The annual day celebration at the Panchayat Primary School in Mellura remote tribal village was marked by colourful events turning it into a cheerful community gathering attracting parents and the public.
Mellur is a village under the VellakadaiPanchayat and is at a distance of 16 kms from Yercaud in the Sheveroyan Hills in Salem District.
The programme was presided over by Jayanthi, President of the School Management Committee in the presence of members of the committee, Samuel Selvaraj, Headmaster of the School and teacher Sahaya Rani.
In view of the event several competitions were conducted to test the creativity and imagination of thechildren.
Students from the remote hill village mostly belonging to the tribal community showcased their skills drawing, storytelling, and handcraft objects from clay.
The prize distribution event saw about 20 children awarded with prizes for winning the competitions.
Sharmila, the special teacher at the school had organised the event.
