Unused products from govt offices will be put up for sale: Collector

The district collector K Tharpagaraj announced that all waste and unused materials would be collected from all government offices in the district, segregated and upscaled for public sale.
The announcement was made as per the guidelines issued by the special projects implementation department as a part of its cleanliness drive.

The statement issued by the collector said, “Old and waste paper, envelopes, cardboard, plastics, iron products, electronic waste (e-Waste), construction waste, and old sanitary products including toilet seats among others will be collected from June 5 from all the government offices in the district.”
These materials will be segregated and given to those who purchase old products through public sale, the statement said, seeking details of interested candidates.

Interested individuals and industrial entities can register their details with the concerned Corporation, Municipality, Town Panchayat, Block Unions and District Rural Development Agency offices from May 30, the statement added.

The scheme is not just aimed at cleaning government offices, but also ensuring environmental protection and upscaling waste items.
