City police commissioner Saravana Sundar urged college students to use social media platforms with caution due to rising cybercrimes.
The commissioner was addressing the students during the introductory programme organized by PSGR Krishnammal college for women at its college premises for first-year students.
The college chairman Dr Nandhini welcomed the gathering, and the commissioner took part as the chief guest.
He said, “In addition to academics, students should develop additional individual skills while at college. They should also undergo training on protecting
themselves.”
He asked students to download the police assistant application on their mobile phones, and emphasized to use social media platforms with caution.
The college secretary Yashoda Devi, director of S2S personality development academy Priya Senthil and others attended the event.
