Naruvi Hospital, Vellore, marked International Women’s Day with a special event highlighting the role of women in society and the importance of their health. Vellore District Collector VR Subbulaxmi, the chief guest, emphasised that while education has given women freedom and financial security, they must also prioritise their well-being.
Speaking at the event, she noted that women are central to building a better world but must also ensure “a healthier tomorrow for themselves.” She stressed the importance of self-care and acknowledged the contributions of mothers in shaping successful individuals.
Subbulaxmi praised Naruvi Hospital for providing world-class healthcare in Vellore and commended Vice Chairperson Anitha Sampath and the hospital’s medical and paramedical staff for their dedication.
In his presidential address, Dr. GV Sampath, Chairman of Naruvi Hospitals, described Subbulaxmi as an inspiring example of women’s success. He reiterated the hospital’s commitment to women’s empowerment, noting that 60% of its workforce consists of women. He highlighted that India has seen women in leadership roles, including heads of state, and acknowledged the crucial role of women in the medical field, particularly in nursing, where qualities like compassion and kindness come naturally.
The event also featured speeches by Dr. Asvatha, Dr. Narmadha, and Dr. Sujatha on women’s empowerment. Anitha Sampath honored Subbulaxmi, and Aruna, Associate Manager of HR, delivered the vote of thanks.
