VGM Hospital, Coimbatore’s leading gastroenterology hospital, has expanded into a multi-specialty center, now offering kidney and liver transplants along with advanced cardiology and interventional radiology services.
Founded by Dr. VG Mohan Prasad, the hospital has grown from a 40-bed facility to a state-of-the-art 150-bed hospital with 20 medical specialties. Recognized for its excellence in liver care, VGM Hospital has treated over two lakh patients, including many from abroad. Now, after 16 years, it is introducing a dedicated six-story block for liver and kidney transplants, a Liver ICU, a dialysis center, and a high-tech Cath Lab for cardiology interventions.
Speaking at a press conference, Dr. Mohan Prasad called the expansion a "landmark moment," stating that it will help deliver world-class treatment across multiple specialties. The inauguration is scheduled for March 16, with dignitaries including Justice Vadamalai of the Madras High Court and senior IAS officers attending.
Dr. Mithra Prasad highlighted the rising burden of liver diseases in India due to alcohol consumption, obesity, and diabetes, stressing the need for early intervention.
The hospital’s government-approved transplant program aims to provide a "second life" to patients with liver failure.
With its first-of-its-kind Liver Master Health Check, advanced weight-loss procedures like Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty, and cutting-edge interventional radiology, VGM Hospital continues to redefine healthcare in Tamil Nadu, ensuring top-tier medical services for patients across India and beyond.
