Vice president arrives in Coimbatore

Vice president Jagadeep Dhankar reached the city amid grand welcome by government officials and ministers. He is in the city ahead of the vice-chancellors’ conference taking place in Nilgiris.
Governor RN Ravi has called for a vice-chancellors’ conference which is scheduled to take place in Nilgiris. While vice-chancellors have decided to boycott the event, the vice president has turned up to attend it.
He reached the city by a private flight at 10:40 am. He was welcomed by minister Kayalvizhi, MP Ganapathy Rajkumar, collector Pavankumar K Giriyappavanar, corporation commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran, west zone IG Senthil Kumar, police commissioner Saravana Sundar and SP Karthikeyan.
He immediately left for Ooty where he will stay for Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, he will return to the city to attend a seminar at the Tamil Nadu Agriculture University before leaving for New Delhi on the same day.
Security measures have been beefed up both in the district and 
Nilgiris.
