Perundurai MLA S. Jayakumar presented a special call attention motion to the Speaker Appavu regarding villagers stir for 150th day in Kauthapalayam, Uthukuli Union, Tirupur District.
He said there is a 32 feet height Nadu Kal hero stone in Kumarikalpalayam Panchayat which is about 2300 years old. The Department of Archeology, which had previously studied it, has kept photographs related to it for viewing at the Keezadi Museum. It is one among 32 places belong to the Department of Archeology in TN. The public is afraid that the 765/400 kilowatt high tension power cable from Virudhunagar to Kauthampalayam will destroy the ancient historical monument belonging to the archeology department. Therefore, an order should be issued that no land acquisition or other project work should be carried out within two kilometers radius of Kumarikalpalayam village without obtaining the permission of the Department of Archaeology. So, the villagers of the area were protesting for the last 150 days. Jayakumar presented the motion under Rule No. 55 to the Speaker to discuss the issue in the Assembly.
Similarly, he and Tirupur North MLA KN Vijayakumar submitted a motion to the Speaker regarding non stoppage of buses at Parappalayam of Mannarai area of Uthikuli Road, Tirupur District under Perundurai Assembly Constituency, affecting school goers much.
