VIT and SRM Colleges win top honours in Riviera Arts and Sports Festival

VIT University, Vellore, and SRM University, Chennai, emerged as the overall champions in sports and cultural categories, respectively, at the Riviera 2025 Arts and Sports Festival. The grand event, held from Thursday to Sunday at VIT University, Vellore, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across the 
globe.
The festival was inaugurated by former Indian women's basketball team captain Anita Pal Durai. More than 45,000 students from 86 universities and colleges representing 26 countries across Asia, Europe, and Africa took part in the competitions.
Over 150 events were conducted, including sports competitions, drama, dance, and music performances in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Notable highlights included Infusion, showcasing the cultural diversity of international students, Kala, a skill competition for visually impaired participants, and Tamili, featuring Tamil entertainment performances by Rajmohan and MT Music Group.
The closing ceremony, held on Sunday, was graced by actor Sonu Sood, who presented trophies and awards to the winners. The VIT University team clinched the overall championship title in sports, while SRM University, Chennai, won the cultural championship.
VIT Vice Presidents Shankar Viswanathan, Vice Chancellor Kanchana Bhaskaran, and Riviera Coordinator Gokul Kumar participated in the event, congratulating the winners and encouraging students to continue excelling in arts, sports, and cultural activities.
