AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) vowed to "send the DMK government home," criticising the ruling party's "family rule" and governance.
Speaking on the 8th death anniversary of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, EPS paid tribute at her memorial on Marina Beach, Chennai, and outlined his party’s mission to reclaim power in Tamil Nadu.
In his statement, EPS pledged to work in the footsteps of AIADMK icons MGR and Jayalalithaa, accusing the DMK government of betraying public trust with unfulfilled promises.
He labeled the DMK's governance as a "fake Dravidian model," alleging that power is concentrated within the Chief Minister's family, including his son and son-in-law.
EPS criticised the DMK administration for increasing utility and service taxes, including property tax, electricity tariffs, and milk prices, while alleging a rise in crimes, such as serial murders, robberies, and drug addiction.
He condemned the government for its failure to prevent deaths from illicit liquor and accused it of turning Tamil Nadu into a paradise for criminals. He also questioned the DMK’s promises on issues like the cancellation of the NEET exam, waiver of educational loans, and inflation control, claiming these promises remain unmet.
EPS declared AIADMK’s commitment to defeating the DMK in the upcoming assembly elections and restoring AIADMK's governance in Tamil Nadu.
The statement reflects AIADMK's ongoing strategy to position itself as a strong alternative to the DMK government ahead of the next elections.
