Who will get the AIADMK General Secretary post?

O.Paneerselvam and Edappadi K Palanisamy are engaged in keen competition of capturing the AIADMK's General Secretary post.
Senior party leaders Dindigul Srinivasan and R.B Udaya Kumar held discussions with both. Following the demise of Jayalalithaa, power struggle is simmering between O.Paneerselvam and Edappadi K Palanisamy. Although the cold war exists between the two since 2017 it did not flare up into a major crisis in the party. 
On June 23, the AIADMK party's general body and executive committee meeting is scheduled to be held. With talks going on within the party about reviving the tradition of a single party head and the General Secretary's post, in a meeting held two days back, most of the district secretaries have favored the single leadership system. Following this, the race for clinching the General Secretary's post has begun. Supporters of O.Paneerselvam and Edappadi K Palanisamy are meeting the two leaders and pledging solidarity.
R.Vaithilingam, Deputy Organiser, Manoj Pandiyan, MLA, Natham Viswanathan, Former Minister, Ashok, former MLA, Gopalakrishnan, former MP, R.Dharmar, M.P, Theni, Mohamad Khan, Nellai Katchai Ganesa Raja, District Secretaries held discussions with O.Paneerselvam at his residence. 
Likewise, those who met Edappadi K Palanisamy reportedly include senior leaders, Dalavoi Sundaram, P.Thangamani, S.P Velumani, Venkatesh Babu, and District Secretaries. Meanwhile, former ministers Dindigul Srinivasan and R.B Udaykumar who discussed with Edappadi K Palanisamy also discussed with  O.Paneerselvam. 

The discussion reportedly revolved around pacifying O.Paneerselvam. But O.Paneerselvam's supporters reportedly demanded that he be selected as the General Secretary.
On Wednesday night the former minister P.Valarmathi, former M.P Chitlapakkam Rajenderan, MLA Maragatham Kumaravel, A.Anbalagan, East State Secretary, Puducherry have also met Edappadi K Palanisamy. 

Later speaking to media persons, P.Valarmathy said, the party members want single head system and discussions are going on to bring about a resolution on this in the General Council and Executive Committee meetings.  Only a person whom the party members wish would emerge as the General Secretary.
Against this background, posters have been put up on Chennai's Greenways road and in many parts of the state by the OPS' faction supporting their leader. Edappadi K Palanisamy's supporters objected to this and staged a road roko in Chennai. 

The police pacified and cleared them from the place. From Wednesday morning the supporters of O.Paneerselvam gathered at his residence and shouted slogans not to hand over the party to betrayers. OPS reportedly pleaded with them to keep calm,Senior leaders R.B Udayakumar, Ponnaiyan, C. V Shanmugam, Vaigai Selvan, P.Valarmathy, and 
Semmalai are involved in consultations. Party sources hint that the party leadership question will be resolved in the coming meeting of the General Council and Executive Committee meeting itself on comming June 23.
