The Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 is seen as an important election for the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.
Karnataka stands out as the state in the southern states where the BJP is in power, the state where the Congress party is structurally strong, and the state that always gives life to Janata movements. Karnataka election 2023 is also seen as a preview of the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year.
Polling for all 224 constituencies in the state is going on in one phase today. There are 224 candidates from BJP, 223 candidates from Congress, 209 candidates from Secular Janata Dal, besides Aam Aadmi Party, SDBI and Owaisi's party, a total of 2,615 candidates are in the fray.
Counting of votes will be held on May 13. Congress party leader Mallikarjuna Kharge, former presidents Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, former chief minister Siddaramaiah and former minister DK Shivakumar were involved in the election campaign with intense field work.
Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Yeddyurappa, Chief Minister Basavaraj Boyam and Union Ministers participated in the election campaign. Prime Minister Modi camped for 7 days and held a ``road show'' to win over the voters.
Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda, former Chief Minister Kumaraswamy and senior leader Ibrahim collected votes on behalf of the secular Janata Dal.
For 38 years in Karnataka, the ruling party has not returned to power in a row so far. BJP, Congress and secular Janata Dal parties are saying that we will win the election.
Leading media outlets have predicted the Congress to rule in the pre-election polls. At the same time polls are sometimes false. Even though the ruling BJP has been accused of corruption, its strength cannot be underestimated.
Is Congress or BJP going to sit on the throne? Will Siddaramaiah become the Chief Minister, Basavaraj puppet again? Let's wait for a few days!
