To establish the importance and antiquity of the Tamil culture in the global platform, the Tamil Nadu government has started excavation works in Keezhadi in Sivagangai district in 2018. Since then, the archaeological department has done numerous important discoveries and established its ancientness with the help of renowned global scientific laboratories.
More than 100 artefacts including mosses, glass beads, ivory rams, clay pipes, and pots, have been found in the Keezhadi excavation. Everything, including brick structures, has been recorded.
Meanwhile, the Union Government transferred Amarnath Ramakrishnan, who worked at the site as the archaeological supervisor to Assam. But he submitted a research report to the union archaeological department in 2023 regarding his excavation.
Now, the department has returned the report to Amarnath, stating that the Keezhadi research report needs to be revised. Responding to the department, Amarnath stated, “The Keezhadi study report is correct. There is no need to change the report already submitted.”
The department both in Parliament and in the case filed at the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court, gave a commitment to release the report within nine months. But, after 15 months, if the report is returned seeking corrections, what could be the reason? The answer to that is no unsolvable mystery.
In the Keezhadi excavations, not just the ancientness of Tamil culture was proved, but also the most important revelation was made – the history is secular and that Sanskrit does not have such a deep, officially recognized history. That’s why the union government is trying to obstruct and delay the release of the report.
The BJP-run union government just cannot tolerate the cultural civilization of the ancient Tamils, which emerged before the appearance of stone and soil. That’s why it becomes skeptical when the union government asks for unnecessary explanations, delaying the publication of the Keezhadi study report. It might be its attempts to hide the truth.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, who has been constantly promoting research activities including excavation works across the state, should put immense pressure and ensure that the report is published immediately. The public should stand with the Chief Minister in his fight in establishing the ancientness of Tamil culture, and rewriting history.
