Will Amit Shah’s visits impact polls?

Will Amit Shah’s visits impact polls?

Ahead of the 2026 state assembly election, the AIADMK has finalized its alliance with the BJP. Senior BJP leader and union home minister Amit Shah met AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) during his visit to Chennai in April, and announced the alliance formation.
When Amit Shah visited the state for the second time on June 7 and 8 to participate in a public meeting in Madurai, he also met south districts’ party executives. The minister’s repeated visits have been cheering up the party cadres.
However, BJP is holding its stance strongly in forming a coalition government led by AIADMK in the state, and has been pulling all the strings to get seats in the state cabinet. The BJP has not managed to win even a single seat in the state when it contested alone in the previous general election. Learning a lesson, it is moving the dice diplomatically.
Now, sources reveal that Amit Shah’s next visit to Chennai is confirmed on July 8. He had earlier assured his party cadres that he will visit the state every month. Now, the confirmation message has gained the attention of many. During his visit, the leader is expected to conduct constituency-wise research, and hold separate meetings with key executives. He is also expected to meet EPS, PMK founder Ramadoss and working president Anbumani, expelled AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam, TTV Dinakaran and GK Vasan. Importantly, Amit Shah is expected to conclude alliance talks with PMK, which they have been moving through auditor Gurumurthy.
Amit Shah’s repeated visits to the state have created high expectations in the state politics. Will it have a significant impact in the election, only time will tell.
